This leather is thick "full grain". It's 7-8 oz. thick Full grain leather is much BETTER than the top grain and genuine or bonded leather. Full grain is the most premium and durable cut you can buy. It's the only cut that contains unique markings and scars, making it highly sought after. Full grain fibers run more vertical, resulting in superior strength and perhaps will hold up for a 100 years of use if properly maintained.

We only use leather from North American cattle that has been carefully vegetable tanned right here in the USA. The tanning process has preserved the strength of the full grain fibers, and ensures durability and long life.

This is durable leather with rich patinas that only betters with age.

We hand cut the leather from large hides (as seen on our shop's front page). Each piece is unique with different markings. Then, you'll find that we do much more than our competition:)

- We case the leather when needed to give the journal it's shape.
- We carefully punch the holes for the binding.
- We trim and burnish the edges by hand, compressing and binding the leather fibers.
- We apply a quality edge finish that gives long lasting protection and a smooth feel.
- We hand sew the strong elastic cord and properly tension it.
- We engrave your name or logo on the front cover if you wish (Leave us a note when you order).
- We package your journal in a nice cotton drawstring bag.

Often times, journal makers won't go to these finishing extents, nor use thick leather like ours, because it requires these extra steps. But once you get ahold of our thick leather journal that's well formed and finished, you'll never go back to the flimsy things that only last a year or two.
